People have invented tools and machines, cultivated technologies, and discovered scientific principles. And by sharing the benefits in terms of convenience, comfort, and safety, they have built the societies of today.

Now, the world is approaching its next period of transition. The ICT and AI that people created are forcing our lives and societies to change at a pace faster than we could ever have imagined. An era in which AI takes over our role and drives societies may become a reality. And what will become of people then? What will we want from life then? Once again, we are embarking on a new era, one in which people must be central to our thoughts and actions.

From the global level down to the smallest community, we face challenges of a sort we have never dealt with before. Countless issues jeopardize people’s trust in each other, as well as the sustainable growth of our societies. The solution to those issues may not be easy to find. Perhaps there is no single solution. Nonetheless, intractable as the challenges facing people and society may be, we believe that if we think carefully before we act, we will find a way.

We must identify alternative options that will lead on to the societies of the future. We must think as individuals, then share our insights with each other and choose a better path. All of us living through present times must hang onto the conviction that tomorrow will be a better day and dedicate ourselves to finding solutions. We believe that is our responsibility to the next generation.

Dentsu Institute is drawing on its unbounded spirit of inquiry and curiosity to determine changes in perception at the individual and societal levels.
We are collaborating with others steadily cultivating the green shoots of the future to seek solutions one at a time.
